Fallen Earth offers new subscription options
With all the game trailers flying at us from Gamescom 2010 in Cologne, France, it is simple to overlook the news closer to home. Happily, the team at Icarus Studios sent us word that their post-apocalyptic MMORPG Fallen Earth is expanding its stable of subscription options.
In addition to the industry-standard $14.99 every month rate, you can also get your wasteland fix by 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month bundles that will save you, well, a bundle. For the arithmetically challenged, you'll save $5, $18, and $55 in the event you opt in to one of the long-term deals when compared to a standard every month sub. Check out the full press release at the official Fallen Earth net site, or go straight to the net store.
Iris Online opens registration for beta testing
While free-to-play games are not everyone's cup of tea, it is hard to deny that some imaginative mechanics come out of them that would not prosper anywhere else. Iris Online is a prime example, utilizing a Tarot-based set of mechanics that tie 22 dungeons of the game to the 22 Major Arcana and permit players to change in to monsters by a card process. Gala-Net is opening the game up for beta testing registration, with the game's testing set to commence at an unspecified time in the future.
Described as a gypsy-themed fantasy game, the aesthetics feature a surfeit of bright colors and surreal imagery, such as the accordion-legged horses seen in the title picture. (Those are mounts, for the record.) It also sticks to the Tarot theme in its dungeon mechanics -- the Lovers dungeon, for example, may only be entered by a male character and a female character, both of whom must survive together. While the details on gameplay are yet to be fully revealed, Iris Online definitely has a matchless look to it, and those interested can sign up for beta testing now.
Soul Master has been in open beta for a week now, and the latest trailer gives us a more extensive view of battle than we have had before, while hinting at some thrilling options for alliances.
The game is designed to be an action-oriented MMORTS, and while there is definite to be an emphasis on strategy and planning, the gameplay they see in the trailer looks to be fast-paced. There is talk of never fighting alone, units speeding to you in battle, and deadly assaults -- the blending of RTS and action appears to be coming along nicely.
