Halo: Reach To Punish Quitters
One of the things all of us detest as game enthusiasts are quitters. Those pesky game enthusiasts who get down on their kill/death ratio & up & leave the multiplayer match. We’ve all seen them. They know who they are. They detest them.
In a recent interview with Xbox360Achievements.org, Community Director for Bungie Brian Jarrard hinted at a few things that the Halo: Reach developers are looking in to to cease would-be quitters from doing it.
“I think one of the new things people will be excited about , is how we’re going to be able to penalize individuals who are habitually quitting out of games, which isn’t exactly cheating, but it creates a negative experience for everybody else in the game,” explained Jarrard.
“We actually have new tools now to detect that & finally, individuals who do this habitually will actually be penalized,” they continued, “We require to be able to remove them from the population so they can’t make everyone else keep having a bad time.”
I don’t require to put words in Mr. Jarrard’s mouth, but when they says “We require to be able to remove them from the population”, it sounds like the matchmaking servers are going to segregate the “good players” from the habitual quitters. It brings up a weird situation. Who are they to tell us that they are playing the game wrong? Who determines & who tells you the way you play a game “correctly”? Does Bungie? What about the matchmaking servers who collect all of this information? Does Bungie have the right to do this?
Obviously it’s my assumption & by no means fact. I’m definite you’ll must quit out of numerous games in order to be flagged as a habitual quitter. But what if this statement turns out to be true & I’m lumped in to with the worst of the worst?
I definitely don’t require to be penalized for quitting a game to eat supper a few times or do tasks around the house. Do you? Let me know in the comments.
